All
commissions begin with a meeting between the artist, Jenny, and the
client to discuss what the client is interested in having painted.
This meeting can be over the phone, through email, or in person.
At this meeting, the subject, size, medium and price of the piece, as
well as whether the painting will be painted from life, from photographs
taken by the artist of the subject, or the client's own photographs,
will be discussed. Any photograph can be transformed into a lasting
oil, pencil, or watercolor portrait. School photos, wedding
pictures, old family photographs or any other photographic source are all
perfect for a special painting.
If the
decision is made to work from life or from photographs to be taken by
the artist, a posing session is scheduled which usually lasts under an
hour.
If the decision is made for the artist to work from the client's
supplied photographs, or from life or photos as described above, the
next step for the artist is to complete a scale sketch of the final
piece, which the client can then approve.
Once
the final sketch is approved, I can begin work on the final piece!
